Revitalize and Thrive: A Course in Commercial Property Redevelopment

Time: 3 Hours
Location: 1070 White Street, Suite A, Atlanta, GA 30310
Course #: 77187
Cost: $30
Commercial property redevelopment can transform vacant, underperforming, and obsolete buildings into productive assets that generate revenue, attract investment, support local businesses, and strengthen communities. However, successful redevelopment requires more than identifying a promising property. Real estate professionals must understand market demand, financial feasibility, funding options, regulatory requirements, and the risks involved in repositioning an existing asset.
This three-hour continuing education course provides real estate professionals with a practical understanding of the commercial redevelopment process. Participants will examine how projects move from initial vision and property identification through feasibility analysis, financing, regulatory approval, construction, and completion.
The course explores how feasibility studies are used to evaluate market demand, site conditions, development costs, projected revenue, financing assumptions, and a project’s overall viability. Participants will learn how to recognize properties with redevelopment potential and determine whether a proposed use is financially and operationally realistic.
Participants will also explore common redevelopment financing options, including conventional debt, private equity, public incentives, grants, tax credits, and other gap-financing tools. The course examines the roles of developers, lenders, investors, government agencies, and community stakeholders in structuring and advancing redevelopment projects.
Regulatory considerations—including zoning, land-use approvals, permitting, environmental requirements, building codes, and local development standards—will be discussed as critical components of the redevelopment process. Participants will learn how early due diligence and coordination with public officials can help identify challenges, reduce delays, and improve project outcomes.
Through practical examples, group discussions, and real-world case studies, participants will learn to:
